Title: GROUP 4 EXHAUSTS
Post by: chugga boom on 07 July, 2014, 06:57:41 PM
I'm building another 1600Hf for a customer at the moment , after hearing how impressive the last one went he too wants to go down the group 4 modifications route , after much trawling over the internet and phone calls to suppliers he has had no luck being able to source a group 4 exhaust in stainless steel only mild steel , I have a mild steel system to copy and have been in touch with a company local to me to copy the exhaust for my customers car .
I intend on dropping him off the full front subframe and my exhaust system so he has an exact "jig" to work from then when the subframe is fitted to the car take the car to him to finish the rear section on the car so it fits correctly .
I trust the company 100% and have seen their work for the last 10 yrs which has always been 110% quality wise , obviously if a batch were made the price would reduce so I'm asking if anyone is interested before I go ahead and get just 2 systems made
Anyone interested just drop me an email      jamesparry1@btconnect.com   and I will discuss prices and options

Pics of GP4 exhaust that might be of use from my race car:  http://www.lukafoto.com/racing/Fulvia%20Exhaust/Manifold/index.html

Chaps in Mansfield Notts. offered to do the same - i.e: jig and make SS. Have done systems for several car clubs from Jags to Citroens. They produced my side exit bossato style in SS to meet current MSA noise regs.

Best Rgds

James, looks great, does it require fitting with the engine out or subframe modification?

I dropped the whole subframe off and it was made to fit it with no modifications , it does split so should be able to fit with engine in situ , it will certainly fit with the subframe out with ease which is how I'm fitting it , it was a copy of an existing system that I bought second hand however much improved , after seeing it today I've ordered one for myself , knew I couldn't resit  ::) this is who made it

How does the 2 into 1 work ? Or are you planning to keep the 2 apart and have 2 tail pipes ??

Or side pipes ........ on a Fulvia, how cool would that be ?

its basically a Y pipe , no transverse box its an all inline system , the rest of the system will be finished in the next month or so when the whole car goes to alunox  , will put pictures up when its done

My Fulvia 1.6 HFS replica built by Paul Collins in the late 80's at Weylock had this style manifold (from Barry Waterhouse) and then a side exhaust exiting just ahead of the lhs rear wheel using a Brabham race car silencer (Brabham were next door to Weylock). Fabulous noise and highly illegal but I never got stopped. I believe the car still exists with body bracing  but the mag wheels, hot engine etc have been removed and sold

James, I guess the manifold and the down pipe or Y section could then fit to usual Fulvia exhaust system with some adjustment, rather than the in the inline box?

Chris, I remember the car being built by Paul, he worked on my car at the same time in a Byfleet farmyard, it had my alloy bonnet fitted less the scoop, but that is another story! A fast blast round Goodwood on a track day in about 1988 was quite loud from memory even with a helmet, but fun.

Looks well made.

Old Bassato type side exit on my race car:

SS version :

If an adaptor can be made to straighten out pipe to my expansion box, might be interested.

Just an update. James has asked me to let those interested know that a batch of these is on hold for the time being.
