Title: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: chriswgawne on 03 December, 2014, 08:53:42 AM No connection to seller but this looks like a nice original unmolested B21 for sale for €26,000 near Genoa. Been stored for 15 years so will need brake overhaul.....& maybe engine. Body looks sound and interior OK but no photos of engine bay. Not many saloons like this for sale in Italy any more.

Most of these seem to have lost their correct 'flush' rear lights due to changing regulation in Italy through the '50s and '60s.
The instruments are unusual, I don't think I've seen any exactly like that before. Speedo marked to 100 kmh. Can anyone shed any light on what they are? To me, they look more like some of the B5x coachbuilt cars' dials than standard saloon ones. For reference here are: Standard B10 (and S1 B20): (https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-yYCXb48NPPQ/VH8Gk9enpyI/AAAAAAAAELQ/HTJmOmocVKI/w326-h258-no/B10.JPG) Standard B21 (and some B10?): (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-9kcsz0KK1ik/VH8IPJJ-kDI/AAAAAAAAEL0/Pg6iDYcsuyI/w338-h253-no/B21standard.jpg) The B21 in this ad: (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-VflpIn5Hwdk/VH8Go2oIOTI/AAAAAAAAELo/ejA2g5solx4/w373-h248-no/B21.JPG) B50: (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UQzIuJKqs_c/VH8GnBn1hSI/AAAAAAAAELc/7hVgaYu46-Y/w927-h616-no/B50.jpg) Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: Niels Jonassen on 03 December, 2014, 03:31:02 PM If I am not mistaken the speedo is marked to 160 km/h
Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: williamcorke on 03 December, 2014, 05:53:54 PM If I am not mistaken the speedo is marked to 160 km/h Sorry, yes, I meant 100 MPH. More than a B21 though, where the largest figure is 150 km/h. Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: Sliding Pillar on 03 December, 2014, 06:54:29 PM I have seen similar instruments on B50, mine has the B21 style gauges, which were changed when the factory upgraded the engine from a B10 engine to B21 engine.
Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: AandSRuggeri on 18 December, 2014, 09:42:03 PM I went to see the B21 as it doesn't live too far from me and it's actually not too bad, but then again it's not that great either. The body looks remarkably straight and shouldn't hold many surprises but it does need stripping back and respraying as some sort of reaction seems to have taken place all over it. There are also four screws in the roof that evidently served to hold a roof rack which is a pain because it means stripping out the headlining to fix. The engine bay is lovely and original but unfortunately the engine has been replaced with a later unit (although still from a B21) which however does sound very healthy when fired up. In addition the brakes are shot and the seats have had a couple of all too close encounters with mice, which is a deep shame seeing as the rest of the interior is so good. Good, but perhaps not correct because I seem to recall that only the very early B10s had those wonderful green pinstripes woven into the cloth. One of the original plastic switches is in the glovebox in a ruinously decayed condition which probably means that everything else was in the same state and that the instruments and switches were lifted wholesale from another car at some stage.
Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: Jean-Marie on 19 December, 2014, 06:11:19 PM In fact, when the cars have been stored in bad conditions, the plastic of speedometrs , the steering-wheel and all buttoms, dry, change of color and ''crack'': it's because the original plastic has organic components which get destroyed by sun, a too dry air and acidity of the hands.
it's surely for all these reasons that the owner has changed all speedometers and buttons. It's also for this reason that steering-wheels have been covered by chromed parts, to hide that the steering is cracked. My hobby is to manufacture new steering wheels and you can look at them on web-site: aurelia-b22.com Regards: Jean-Marie Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: Sliding Pillar on 20 December, 2014, 01:59:22 PM There are a good selection of early Aurelia saloons on the market at the moment,
The B21 mentioned at the start of this thread http://www.subito.it/auto/lancia-aureliab21-genova-107665001.htm for about £21,000 plus import costs and needing work. This one http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C568634 advertised at £34,500, another in Italy at about £24,000 plus import costs http://www.subito.it/auto/lancia-altro-modello-anni-50-varese-105131036.htm another B21 needing work, £20,000 plus import costs http://www.subito.it/auto/lancia-aurelia-b-21-s-reggio-calabria-104409302.htm one for £31,000 http://www.autoscout24.eu/Details.aspx?id=233784948&cd=635301307090000000&asrc=st and another for £40,000 http://www.autoscout24.eu/Details.aspx?id=233784948&cd=635301307090000000&asrc=st I can't understand why this one hasn't sold, especially as it is now £24,500, is in perfect condition drives excellently and in the UK http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C568326 Title: Re: Lancia Aurelia B21 for sale Post by: Parisien on 20 December, 2014, 02:27:13 PM Some of the list have been on sale for quite a while or been up before then re-appear 3/6 mths later.
I wonder if any actually get sold or indeed what the sale figure is? Similarly with the B20s, lots up for sale, how many really get sold and what for? I suspect only auction results give us any insight, and even then how reliable are reported sales/figures? I remembered the car had chrome rims around the dials (as shown in one of the photos in a later post) and this seller has 2 B21s for sale on subito today, one of which has chrome dial rims. This car has also had the brakes repaired and now has good paintwork. Of no interest to me as I ideally want a rhd B12 or B22 in unmolested condition. I will keep looking.
