Out of interest, what's the PCD of the Fulvia wheels, specifically the HF if there is a difference ?

Which other cars share this dimension, if any ?  ( I believe the older Skoda is one make)

Years ago when i used my old 1300s Fulvia on night events, when i bought the car it had wheels that looked like minilites, in fact they came of a Skoda Rapide Coupe, these were 13" wheels, but the holes for the wheel bolts were not quite right so much so, that on one event where we got bogged down in a white road and had to be towed out, we drove to the finish well otl, and after a couple of miles, the steering did not feel right, i put it down to mud stuck in the wheels, but in fact when i checked, it was found all 4 wheels had come loose, so beware of Skoda wheels. :)

I think you will find the the original Beetle shares the same PCD, but probably not the same offset nor wheel diameter, VW was 15" not 13" or 14".  I remember seeing a Beetle fitted with 2000 HF Cromodoras many years ago.

I forgot to mention the sixe: 4x 130 (mm)

Roger, I think, ironically, the Skoda wheels are now nearly as hard to find as proper Lancia ones !!

I have two set of Comodoras, but it is the lack of competitve 70 series tyres in the 14" dia that is making me think of changing wheel size.  Alfas have a similare problem and I see one of the tuning firms is now making their GTA rep wheels in 15"   So the VW route might be one to explore.

Mike. You could try this company. www.maxsport.co.uk  worth a look, i don't know what sort of competion tyre you require, but when i used to compete in night events in one of my old 1300 Fulvias , i used colways, they were good all round ( no jokes please) ;) tyres. Regards Roger.

I have 2 revolution 15 inch x 7 (or it may be wider) with rare slip bolts. I would be persauaded to part with them as can never see myself ever using them but would want a good price. they are currently wearing 205/50/15 Kumhos and have some worn Advan of same size.

Yes I've been looking at the Maxsports and I hear that Kumho's are also good. I'm doing classic road rallies with a mixture of special tests ( mini stages in effect) and autotests, both of which can be on gravel or tar.

Thanks for the offer, but 7inch wheels would be too wide for what I need and I probably need 5 or 6 nr 15 inch wheels if I choose to go that route.

Looks like the school run here in Aberystwth. or trying to find a parking place at Morrisons   ;) ;) A pal of mine does cllasic rallying in a Mgc Gt and I think he is using some type of Yokohama's , but at the end of the day every car is different,. Is your Fulvia very high at the back, if so have you raised it to make handbrake turns easier? Cheers Roger.

Yes the car is a bit high at the back, had to get new springs made and have been playing with the nr of leafs as they are different thicknees to std Fulvia, put an extra leaf in for the rally to stiffen rear, but it was actually too stiff, so have now removed it. !!

Re rear springs italian steel which was used for fulvia leaf springs is less stiff than that used by english spring manufacuturers and will result in completely different spring rates etc.

Correct, I am now only using 3 leafs instead of the 6 in the std Lancia spring. But then the steel is also about 1.5 times the thickness of the Lancia.  However, I think I have got it back to more or less the same sort of rating, but then I have to remember that my Lancia springs are 35 years old !!

You can get original stock HF rear spring new off shelf from Cavallitto (at least  I did a year ago).

I tried Norfolk and was told they only had 2nd hand, and they weren't too sure if there were any of those about.

As I'm using the car for historic/classic road rallies, I'm happy to use a modern alternative, at the moment. The extra leaf is back out of the car and it's sitting fine enough, another rally or two and there will probably be another bit of settlement. By the time you put in 2 spare tyres, a tool box and my "perfectly formed" navigator it all seems fine :)

Friend of mine in Holland is currently experimenting with fibreglass springs on his Fulvia 1.2 HF :o
