Title: Lancia Special Tools Post by: ben on 03 August, 2016, 06:32:17 PM I have recently unearthed a large cache of special tools which I think are probably for the Beta model.
Most of them have six figure part numbers preceded by *88* and a few are stamped FIAT-SAT-A followed by a five figure number. At this stage I am posting the information and pictures in the hope that someone can help me identify what the individual tools are for, via the part numbers or any particular ones people may recognize. I suspect item 80 is a Beta hub nut spanner. I shall be looking to dispose of them but feel I need to know what they are first! In particular if any are for the Fulvia I should keep them as I might need them myself (if I ever get my Fulvia finished!) If not perhaps the Club could buy the ones you don't want?
Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: lancialulu on 04 August, 2016, 07:49:50 AM They do look familiar and replicate at least 60% of the clubs special tools. If I had a listing from Ben I could check.

As before any information on what they are for gratefully received. Ben Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: Jai Sharma on 09 August, 2016, 09:47:39 AM The four in the "829" column look like Fulvia rear hub tools. Some cars had six pin and some three pin tools depending on the number of indents in the castellated nuts. You can check that on your own car I guess.
Hope this gets the ball rolling. Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: nthomas1 on 09 August, 2016, 10:34:32 AM Hi Ben - I have a digital copy of a Lancia Tools catalogue - I think for Fulvia and Beta. I've attached a picture of a page that shows tools 88-012-161 and 88-012-162. They seem to match with your photograph. I haven't looked beyond these couple of parts but I'd imagine that many/most of the tools you show are included in the catalogue. It's a massive (and very, very interesting) document , and I'm not sure where I got it from! The file is about 100MB so too big to e-mail but I'll take a stab at breaking down into sections over the next few days. Failing that I'll find a way to paper-mail a copy to you.
Cheers, Norm Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: simonandjuliet on 09 August, 2016, 07:59:23 PM I have the same for Flaminia/Fulvia/Flavia and the lorries dating from 1972 and it is quite a document ...... mine covers the tools beginning 80..... so is too early for your list Ben
Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: nthomas1 on 09 August, 2016, 08:58:00 PM Ben - I have split the Tools Manual PDF file into 10 sections: Intro; Engine; Clutch/Gearbox/Propshaft; Rear Axle & Suspension, etc etc.
The original manual is 332 pages long, so some of these sections are still pretty big - the largest is around 20MB in size. Should I try sending them individually to your e-mail address? I could try one first as a test, and see if it gets through your mail server ok. Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: ben on 09 August, 2016, 10:36:35 PM Hi Norm
It is good to know that the information is out there and available. Thanks for your response and yes please do try to send a sample. My computer is a bit ancient so I wont hold my breath! Ben Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: Jay on 10 August, 2016, 09:15:08 AM Hi all,
It would be great if this document could be uploaded to the member’s technical section, so all members could download it. Especially as the difficult / time consuming part of scanning has been done, as I am embarking on a fulvia sport restro, and document like this would be a great help. Do you mean the library as the forum cannot handle such large documents. There are other digitised tool lists available for example the dvd from Angela Vershoors Flavia book has this or Fulvia Flavia and Flaminia but that generation of document does not identify the car model of the tool just the tool type ie engine, gearbox etc, spanner utility etc... I am in contact with Norm and aim to make this available for download as useful to Beta forum and Lancisti as well. Peter Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: davidalanbatt on 16 August, 2016, 07:13:09 AM Hi Ben,
I have sent you a PM about the tools. Kind regards Paul Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: ben on 21 August, 2016, 01:23:48 PM Hi Peter
Can you advise me how to access the data on the tools that you have got from Norm please. And perhaps in the meantime tell me what the pins, item 88 013 153 , are used for? I am wondering if you intend looking up the rest of my list and letting me know what they are for as I would be very happy if that was your intention! Best regards Ben Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: peteracs on 22 August, 2016, 07:11:44 AM Hi Peter Can you advise me how to access the data on the tools that you have got from Norm please. The catalogue available is here (hopefully!), never used box.com before so no idea on download limit etc, so spread out your downloads.... https://app.box.com/s/gmd25uk9psa6rvffjxtci6mgmuxnw3v6 Peter Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: nthomas1 on 23 August, 2016, 08:32:48 PM Hi Ben - I couldn't find 88-013-153 in the catalogue. Are you sure that's the right number for the pins? It may be that they are for a model other than Fulvia and Beta (which I believe my manual covers). I was able to find the preceding number, 88-013-152, and it matches the item in your photograph. The manual describes it as "Tool to tighten and loosen ancillary units shaft drive gear fixing bolt".
It might help you if I give you a cross-reference index for the ranges of numbers, showing which section of the manual they are covered by. The numbers below refer to the middle numbers of the items in your hand-written list, e.g 013 for 88-013-153: 011, 012, 013, 017 Engine 021, 022, 023 Clutch, Gearbox, Transmission 032, 035 Rear Axle & Suspension 041, 042 Front Axle & Suspension 051, 052, 053, 055 Brakes, Wheels, Tyres Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: Angle Grinder on 23 August, 2016, 09:32:11 PM For what it's worth 8042104 is the "Puller for front suspension ball joints"... on a Flavia and prob some early Fulvias.
One less to identify.... Title: Re: Lancia Special Tools Post by: ben on 25 August, 2016, 08:51:22 AM By strange coincidence the 88-013-153 tool is one of the only two things I so far have buyers for and I now know they are for locking the camshaft drive wheels on a Gamma.
I still have another pair if any other Gamma owner is interested. Thanks to the Forum I have now identified quite a few of the tools and will try to post a more useful listing when I find the time. Ben |
