Title: Beta tool kits Post by: frankxhv773t on 11 December, 2016, 07:41:22 PM A few tool kits have been listed on e-bay recently and I notice differences in the tools they contain. It caused me to wonder if different specifications of tools were supplied at different times or some of these sets just have non original items. Some of the prices are a bit amusing too.

Pictures below plus what I consider to be a standard Beta tool kit with the early type folding hinge (broken of course). The last one is very much like the ones I have had, Checking with the parts manual for the earlier Betas has the screwdriver illustrated as what appears to be a wooden handled one rather than the plastic one which is the common one. No idea if the blue pliers or the black handled one was a later one. Peter Title: Re: Beta tool kits Post by: Dikappa on 13 December, 2016, 06:32:19 AM the bottom one is the only correct one. It Always had the reversible screwdriver and 'naked' pliers.

Mark Title: Re: Beta tool kits Post by: Dermist on 15 December, 2016, 12:51:07 PM My Beta saloon Series 2 (1976) has the bottom toolkit but with a wooden handle screwdriver i.e. it also has the adjustable grip pliers that the top one doesn't seem to have.
There is no chance of any tools having been swopped over the past 40 years, as the car was new to my Dad and I showed him that the screwdriver was reversible! On the Saloon, the tool kit fits into a neat polystyrene insert that fits under the rubber boot mat by the rear wing. I will get a photo over the weekend. Title: Re: Beta tool kits Post by: Dermist on 21 December, 2016, 10:58:56 PM Frank,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but please find below the location and the styrene locator that positions the tool box in the boot of the Beta Saloon (S2). Just to give the pictures a sense of perspective, this is on the passenger side just behind the rear light cluster. You can just see the boot lid rubber seal. I have pulled back the rubber boot mat. If you require anymore information please let me know. Title: Re: Beta tool kits Post by: frankxhv773t on 22 December, 2016, 08:11:09 PM Thanks Dermist. That's interesting and shows that it is a reversible screwdriver. It fascinates me that they didn't use plastic for the screwdriver handle but did use polystyrene for the mounting point.
