Title: Flaminia C/N 3475
Post by: ncundy on 05 December, 2007, 02:58:36 PM
Does any one on here own Flamina Coupe chassis number 3475 - if so it is for sale on e-bay (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lancia-Flaminia-Coupe_W0QQitemZ220179843709QQihZ012QQcategoryZ18305QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

A zero feedback seller, 9 bids in the first 24 hrs and a suggested buying price of £4,400, run for the hills I suggest !

Or hold on very tightly to your cash until all checked out ;D
Looks very nice though, just checked my 2000 members & car register, at that time not known to Club.

Hi Roger,
Someone isn't :(
I see it's now up to £2150 with 9 bidders, my advice still applies ;D

for the less astute amongst us , is this car really for sale at that asking price or is it a hoax?

Perfect example of shill bidding. Hoax - all the way to the bank !
Look at all the bid retractions, and the way the price keeps fluctuating as he drops in another shill bid to pretend there is some activity, only to withdraw it an hour later. This is the eBay scammers equivalent of wiggling the worm to try to get a bite.
And to cap it all the brilliantly subtle way he poses a question to himself, so he can suggest a buy it now price  ;D . A genuine, very good condition Flamina Coupe for £4k - bargin of the year or the best way to chuck £4k away ?

That was funny. I sent a e mail and asked when I could view it, no reply , now the listing has been removed. ;) Did this for a laugh. ;D

It looked too good to be true. A friend of mine who is more experienced with eBay than me commented:

“the seller has got no feedback – they get people to ‘buy it now’ by sending a deposit by Western Union or bank transfer, and then surprise, surprise – they don’t have a car – this car belongs to someone else I think...”

Must have been a similar scam to last year when my Fulvia 2c was on an Italian site in the cars for sale section in Milan, this was just after we came back from Turin;
A friend in Holland who happened to be trawling Italian sites at the time, spotted it and warned me, when I went into the site there was one of my own photos of my 2c taken about 8 years ago :o with her up for sale :(

I emailed the site asking what the hell was my car doing up for sale by someone other than myself ??? I never got an answer but it rapidly disappeared from there.

Brian . I had a similar thing with one of my motorcycles, someone recieved a second chance offer from e bay, although the bike had not reached reserve. There are some chancers out there. :) Geoff. any colour you like, i work in a accident repair centre. ( not that you would guess looking at my Fulvia this year).  ;)
