Title: Nardi Conversion Post by: colinw on 08 October, 2017, 06:43:09 PM I would welcome any info on the "upgrade" of 1500cc Flavia engines by Nardi. Was it simply a better air intake system for the carb or was there a fuller conversion which involved boring out the cylinder bores to get a better horse power figure. I see that converted engines quote a HP figure of 90 which is quite near the 92 for the 1800cc engine. I assume that the Nardi conversion is quite successful and desirable modification for 1500cc engines. Any help much appreciated, thank you.

The Nardi conversion that was offered was called the Variante 1005, which I have fitted to my Coupe. It consisted of larger liners and pistons which took the capacity out to 1721cc, a single twin choke Weber carburettor in place of the original twin carbs, and an Aurelia type of air filter. It`s aim was to increase the torque figure rather than the power output, as the early 1500 Coupes were criticised back in the day for their lack of torque. Hope this helps. Thank you for this simple explanation, most helpful. I do not know enough about carb settings but I assume the mod gives you more torque at lower revs. Thank you again. Colin |
