Title: Flavia Exhaust Post by: Dave Gee on 03 November, 2017, 10:15:05 AM Can anyone recommend a supplier of a good quality exhaust system for my Flavia Vignale?
Dave Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: chriswgawne on 03 November, 2017, 10:45:57 AM IMASAF make high quality mild steel exhausts and there are various re-sellers around. The factory may also do a direct shipping service. They will fit a new exhaust at the factory N of Padova if you take the car along.
The online web catalogue list a number of Flavia variants and the last time I used them there was someone in Customer Service who spoke good enough English to deal with my query which was a little complicated as we have a 'big bore' 50mm centre section adapted Fulvia Coupe centre section on our GTE Sedan with a modified down pipe which we wanted replaced as existing. She said they could do it and they did just that! I've bought from them for my B10 also. Both bought via an online seller in Germany on ebay.de (a forum recommendation, IIRC).

I have a new Imasaf system waiting to fit to my Fulvia, and have been wondering whether it makes any sense to paint it. I have bought the complete system from the two-into-one section back to the tailpipe. Would appreciate any views on this.
Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: frankxhv773t on 05 November, 2017, 06:16:00 PM I suspect exhausts rust out from the inside as much as the outside so painting probably isn't worth it. What do others think.
Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: simonandjuliet on 05 November, 2017, 06:20:34 PM I painted the exhaust on the furgoncino because I thought it looked better, nothing to do with thermal efficiency or rust protection (see above) , but in theory it should help dissipate heat, but the reality ??
Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: lancianut666 on 07 November, 2017, 07:51:13 PM In reality you want to keep the heat in the exhaust and boil of all that nasty water that will rot the exhaust. I used to run a Vauxhall Victor 2 litre and a replacement exhaust was needed annually as it used to be driven 4 miles in traffic to work in the morning and 4 miles back on a night...however you could put a gallon of petrol in the car have a couple of pints and finish off with some fish and chips all for under a £1....... aaahhh the good old days

All my cars have stainless exhausts. I agree the timbre of them is not ideal but I never have to fiddle around in the dark and cold (always problems in Winter) and the oldest one (Aurelia in 1986) is still solid and only had to come off when engine issue and even then removed in one piece. Found invoice and the 2 pipes cost £330 ie £11/yr. Worth every penny. Was there any evidence of 'work hardening' ?Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: GialloHPEIan on 18 January, 2018, 01:58:57 AM The Imasaf system fitted to my Delta two years and 2500 miles ago still looks like new ,except for the chrome tip which pitted overnight after a 20 mile trip on salted roads!
The following link states that their systems are painted with a corrosion proof aluminium paint as standard. http://www.imasaf.it/en/exhaust-systems-for-cars-and-commercial-vehicles.html Regards Ian (6610) Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: DavidLaver on 18 January, 2018, 11:09:23 AM I like the picture of the jig - keep it simple... http://www.imasaf.it/en/exhaust-systems-for-vintage-cars.html Title: Re: Flavia Exhaust Post by: DavidLaver on 18 January, 2018, 11:18:36 AM Anyone catch Goblin Works Garage no the TV?
