I was following this post with a friend who does a lot of e-baying. He said snipe tools don't have much point since you were able to register a maximum bid without the system placing more than one bid above the next highest bidder. Certainly I have won things for far less than my maximum bid.

Sniping certainly does work. They only put your bid in at the end of the auction, so others have no time to put another bid in. If you put your maximum bid directly into eBay, it will be used immediately so others have plenty of time to respond.
