Someone on Facebook is seeking any information on the strange adaptation to the cam cover breathers on a Flaminia. The markings on them say Brevetto DG Torino. The car was bought by his uncle many years ago as a spares car but he knows no other history. The pipes from the devices are open to the air. Can anybody shed any light on them?

I have not seen those before. I do have rubber pipes running in a similar direction

What is on the bottom end of your pipes? Is it a catch tank for excess oil?

No catch tank, but a good idea. I have tried this arrangment to help a previous plug fouling problem

I would think it probably has the same effect as my oil filler breather pipe on my early Fulvia 2c before the canister with the mesh inside it that was fitted soon afterwards.
This exits into the slipstream and drags oil fumes away.
 not sure if the Flaminia engine has this pipe
arrangement, hence removing it from the oil filler cap on the top of the engine.

I'm pretty sure it isn't a Lancia fitment. It has something of the air of a fuel injector body about it that has been repurposed as an oil breather. Does the "DG" marking suggest anything?

On the Supersport, the hoses from the breather caps went back up into the air cleaner.

The original hoses on my PF ran to the yellow blanking caps under the air filter housing in my photo

Standard set up is little right angled hoses from the chrome oil filler caps up into the underside of the air filter so fumes and crank case pressure are drawn back in through the induction system. If there is excessive oil coming through then it makes sense to route them elsewhere as in Richard's case. However that can simply be done by with hoses attached to the normal oil filler cap without any need for these extra alloy castings to be inserted into the system. I wondered if anyone recognised the apparent maker, DG, or recognised the alloy extensions from some other application.
