Brian Long is correct, I don't know when but Fay's cap has had the centre rivet holding everything together, has been replaced with a threaded pin with a nut and washer on the underside.
I replaced the seal, supplied by Omicron myself sometime ago with a new one by simply taking it apart.
Anyone got a lath, make a small fortune making these for £10 a time.

I have just refurbished 2 Flavia/Aurelia screw type caps by carefully releasing the peened over brass rivet, cleaning all parts, blind drilling the center to take an M4 tap and using a stainless dome headed cap bolt and washer with hard locktite to hold it all together, after replacing the rotten rubber (or cork) with a disk of 2mm nytrile (as per the article in VL). I dont have a lathe and all all the parts were "on the shelf" - so a free upgrade....

Additionally you need to file/grind the top of the unpeened rivet flat...

I'm just a tight Yorkshire man and I thought Omicron wanting £30 to replace the seal was 'Ow Much!' but £137 is just as JCS would say robbery with violence.

We shall see Tim, I've just requested the cost of the Series 1 Sedan heater motor and cost to send to me in the UK.

I have been dealing with him and other italian suppliers for years and there is no problem to ship to UK.

ref cap shown reply no 8, the bayonet style is fitted to my Flavia 2000 Coupe 1970, albeit with 55 litre capacity plate. I know as I've just snapped off one half of the bayonet. Haven't yet managed a left turn at enough speed to persuade the fuel that far back up the filler pipe as it hasn't leaked yet. Will keep trying...
