Appia front screen removal..
« on: 24 October, 2019, 02:52:35 PM »
Does anyone know if the front screen of the S2 model can be removed, and refitted without the need for a new rubber seal?

Hi
Unless the existing rubber seal  is in very good condition it is easiest to cut the old seal and replace it. New seals are available here https://www.lanciavintage.net/en/rubber-parts-and-gaskets/75-windshield-seal-for-appia-2nd-3rd-series-1956-63.html

The screen rubber is in good condition, shame to bin it!.......
The screen lets in water from time to time, so just for a re-seal is needed.

Oh for the days of Comma Seek-n-Seal. If you take out the screen I recommend cutting and polishing the paintwork in the window reveal before you put the screen back. It will make the finished job look like new.

I still have mine 😊👍
I've also used it to seal the cracks in the Fulvia flexible carburettor mounting.

If the windscreen is leaking it's worth checking the rubber seal is mounted
with the joint at the top.( just by the rear view mirror)
There are drain holes in seal.

A good independent windscreen guy will remove the screen and reseal the screen with some black
sealer.
