Hi all, currently in the progress of restoring my series 3 Fulvia, I’m replacing both outer sills, with these off I’ve been looking at strengthening the inner sill before I weld on the outer sill. I wanted to know if anyone’s done this modification how they went about it and does it make the car that much more ridged? Any help and advice would be muchly appreciated.
Also on a side note does anyone know of a passenger door for sale?
Many thanks
Mark

Hi Mark - I was advised to fit sill strengtheners when I was at the same stage on my rebuild.  Take a look at page 2 onwards of my thread "Report on (slow) S2 rebuild" and you'll see the discussion and photographs of the strengtheners that I had fabricated and fitted. I can't comment yet on the impact when driving the car as my rebuild isn't finished yet.

It is worth doing imho. With the outer sill off my metal guy welded in a vertical steel membrane then the outer sill. Bill Lewis used to sell these as I think maybe David Ashworth?

I'd forgotten just how deep you had to go into that car...and the discussion on holes and flares.  A lot of effort into some nice looking parts that will never been seen again and Lancia didn't feel necessary in the first place...but we all know they're in there and appreciate it Smiley

Anyone know if the Safari cars had that mod?

My understanding is that the vertical middle membrane in the sill is not standard, but is a very popular upgrade when doing corrosion repairs.

mine were added 20 years ago, and still seem to be doing a good job.
