Zagato Book

I just bought a book on Zagato which I would highly recommend to anybody interested in this brilliant and sometimes (often?) controversial coachbuilder.  I’ve seen this book advertised on Amazon and Ebay for a while now, but was hesitant to order without having had a chance to leaf through it first.  But with Covid restrictions on venturing to bookshops I decided to take a chance..
 
It is one of a series of seven books on famous coachbuilders, entitled Masterpieces of Style. The series includes books on Bertone, Pininfarina, Vignale, Ghia, Touring and Giugiaro.  I paid £33 via Amazon, which isn’t cheap but nor is it expensive by today’s standards.

It is a delightful book in my opinion.  There are 206 pages, with illustrations on every page.  It is structured around the decades of Zagato’s 100 year history, starting with the 1910s and ending with the 2010s.  As well as the Lancia references, the book covers some of my all time favourite cars: 1930s Alfa 1750, Aston Martin DB4GT, Bristol 406S and the Alfa SZ and TZ cars.  About the only thing I can fault is the lack of an index which would have proved useful.

I can heartily concur with this, bought this as well as the Touring and Vignale ones in the same series in the first lockdown, read them cover to cover straight away, really enjoyable, looking forward to the Ghia book coming out later this year.
