Now that summer's here, it can be quite enjoyable to cycle to your local LMC meeting. It also offers the chance to enjoy a drink without the guilt of driving afterwards. However, I'd like to offer some tips to make sure your evening does not contain unexpected adventure:
- Check for road closures before setting out
- Some roadworkers can be quite "jobsworth" and not let cyclists walk around roadworks (see above)
- Take a pocket map, or a satellite navigation system
- Be prepared for your return journey to take 45 minutes longer than expected (and possibly involve more hills than planned for)
- Don't cycle on those nights when you have an early start the following morning and need to be tucked up in bed by 10pm
I hope others can learn from my experience.
