Top tips for cyclists

Now that summer's here, it can be quite enjoyable to cycle to your local LMC meeting. It also offers the chance to enjoy a drink without the guilt of driving afterwards. However, I'd like to offer some tips to make sure your evening does not contain unexpected adventure:

• Check for road closures before setting out
• Some roadworkers can be quite "jobsworth" and not let cyclists walk around roadworks (see above)
• Take a pocket map, or a satellite navigation system
• Be prepared for your return journey to take 45 minutes longer than expected (and possibly involve more hills than planned for)
• Don't cycle on those nights when you have an early start the following morning and need to be tucked up in bed by 10pm

Next time, I'll shove the brompton in the boot an cycle across the carpark just to show support tho ...

I think once was enough for me. Being lost in the dark in the country lanes at 11pm was too much adventure for a Wednesday night, and I could barely walk this morning after the extra couple of hills.
