I couldn't resist !

Latest addition to the fleet ..... very under appreciated little cars and consequently one of the most affordable sliding pillar Lancias. Needs re-commissioning because it has been in a collection/museum for many years

More later ..... need to finish a couple of others first

Just starting on this, so first job is to dismantle the brakes and replace all the seals and blow through the lines etc This car has been standing for may years so everything has dried up and was stuck

It came apart easily and all the seals and hoses have arrived from Italy

Couple of dismantling details. First photo shows the reservoir being taken apart. I use an induction heater to avoid damaging the body of the reservoir. If you are not careful you can tear the body from the mounting plate - very easy to do !

The heater gently cooks the old rubber seal and it comes undone by hand

Second, I have found the easiest way to remove the wheel cylinder pistons is to blow them out with the air gun. All I do before hand is remove any clud at the top of the piston. Once the first one is out , I push the other out with the press

I have shown an Aprilia shoe next to the Ardea shoes to show the difference in size

Finally, on the subject of Aprilia brakes, this is a shoe that I took from a friend's car - he was getting a strange noise from the front .....

It is a common problem, the pivot hole wears and the shoe leans out and scrapes the inside of the drum. If not dealt with they can do a lot of damage to the drum as well. This one has lost 5 or 6mm

Fortunately a new shoe has restored braking and stopped the horrible noise !

All cleaned, honed and rebuilt and ready to fit, plus the tank has been rinsed and cleaned

We had the car running this week and it sounds lovely, so hopefully test drive next week once the brakes are back together and the tank refitted

Plus photo doing my day job ..... a Toselli 78 with rotovator (there is a video available !!)
