Valve clearances

As my engine has now done 747km's since its rebuild, i think its time to check the clearances. Can anyone provide a step by step guide to setting the valve clearances on an Aprilia please?

The LMC library has lots of technical and service data for the Aprilia.
Setting is 0.25mm with a hot engine.

Basically, you take off the cam cover and rotate the engine with the starting handle so that each cam follower in turn comes onto the back of the cam, opposite the lobe. You then measure the clearance where you can - the outer valves you can measure between the rocker and the stem of the valve, the inner ones you cannor get at the valve itself so have to measure between the rocker and the push rod. A little tedious but not difficult. If the gap is wrong, slacken the lock nut and adjust the tappet screw with a screwdriver until the gap is right, tighten the lock nut again and re-check the clearance.
