I have been contacted by Richard Yorke-Long who is looking to find his late father's Aprilia. He used it with vigour in the 1950's (see photo) and it seems as if the car was still recorded by DVLA in 2006

From Richard:

"Here are two photos of my late father’s (David Yorke-Long) Lancia Aprilia.
The second photo is by Guy Griffiths, taken at Woodcote Corner, Goodwood, during the Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Eastbourne in 1953, a few months before I was born !
A good picture, Dad driving, with the car well balanced at speed.  A Derby Bentley and a Rolls in the first photo outside Dad’s house.

I would like if possible to find out where this car might be at this time.
At the Lancia club meeting near Leamington Spa last year, one member looked up the registration on DVLA who in 2006 still had the number plate assigned to the Lancia."

Can anyone help ?

Many thanks and please contact me and I'll pass it on to Richard

Hi Simon,
I went to see that car in 2014, it still had the buff log book with David Yorke-Long's name in it.
It might still be in the garage where it was then, but I have a feeling it appeared on the market a few years later.

DVLA records say:-
Date of last V5C (logbook) issued
27 September 2023

So it looks as if it might have changed hands, or the owner has moved very recently.

I have a record of it in the LMC Register in 1965, so not very useful.
I note that the DVLA information includes cylinder capacity of 1631cc - unusual

Did you find the car and do you have its chassis number?
