I'll find an ignition controlled live for the relay when I have time. As it is, the lights, radio and fan can all be left on without the key in the ignition, something I have to be careful of.

As my car is a LHD, where the flashers were part of the dipped beam, I'm happy I can now flash with the main beams. The flasher works only with the slider switch on for either side lights or dipped beam but as I always drive with the lights on, as is the modern way, I'm good with this.
Nice soldering, and a healthy looking switch too! 

Lancia obviously intended that some things (horn, radio, clock, courtesy lights, dipped beam flash) should be completely independent of the ignition [powered from fuse 7], while a few other items (brake lights, heater fan, windscreen washer/wiper) could be deactivated if the ignition key was placed in the GAR position [powered from fuse 8].  Of these, the only item that has ever caused me a problem were the brake lights - the switch stuck on and rapidly flattened the battery.  The others are low-current and/or hard to miss.

Picking up on this again, I've just been playing in the fuse box area.

All of my lights, heater fan and radio work with the ignition off and the key removed which I believe is correct.

I've done the stalk mod as above which leaves me with the  flasher operating the main beams when the lights slider is switched on, which for the most part is OK.....but not quite right. What I want is to be able to use the flasher all the time.

So what I've done is this:

Between relays 31 and 32 there is a yellow wire that provides power to relay 32 when the slider is operated. The power arrives at relay 31 via a red wire from the battery (via fuse 7 position, but not through the fuse) and connects at terminal 73. When the slider is operated terminal 56b becomes live which feeds the yellow wire mentioned above. I have disconnected the yellow wire at 56b and connected it to terminal 73 with the red wire using a piggyback crimped terminal (easily reversible if required) so now the yellow wire is no longer switched and permanently live. The flasher now works at any time, just like the rest of the lights.

Fuses. The power to the relays is not fused. Never was. After the relays the power to the lights goes through the fuses.

How does this sound to you all? It does what I want and is no more likely to be left on than the lights have ever been. Have I made an obvious error? Any comments welcome.

That looks fine to me.  The load side of relay 32  (high beam) becomes permanently live, just as the load side of relay 30 (low beam) is, in a standard set up.

After your earlier modification, an earth to the switch (solenoid) side of relay 32 can be provided by the flasher button and relay 32 can still be earthed by the stalk, but only when the main lighting switch is on and relay 31 is closed.

At the moment, the lights could be completely disabled by removing fuse 8, or by putting the ignition key in the GAR position.  Once this change is made, the main beam will still be activated by the flasher, even in GAR mode or with fuse 8 removed. That seems like a small price to pay to get exactly the arrangement you want - to be able to signal with the flasher at all times.

If you want to maintain the dependence of the flasher on fuse 8 and the position of the ignition, then move the yellow wire on terminal 56b and add it to terminal 1, rather than 73.  You might need to make a small extension.

It seems that CEAM relay 31 would be difficult and expensive to replace.  There are a couple listed on eBay for more than £120, since they were also used by Ferrari (for the Dino?).

Thanks Glyn. I'd not used terminal 1 as it has a smaller cable size, however as all the lamps are leds and so low consumption, it would probably be OK. For now though I'm happy.
