Hi, wonder if anyone has experienced cracking in the crossmember around the front leaf spring bolt holes. Having read a couple of articles regarding this i guess it’s not a one off. It’s occurred on a friends Vignale and we’re contemplating a repair in situ. Failing that it would need to be removed and repaired/replaced. Obvious problem with the latter is finding good replacement. Ref removal, we’re not sure if the crossmember can be removed without dropping the subframe? Any thoughts on repairs or removal process gratefully received. Or if you have a spare even better.

Thanks

Hi,
I had a crack successfully repaired in situ a couple of years ago.  It was considerably smaller than yours and was slightly to the right and didn’t disappear under the bolt head/bracket.  I would suggest you remove the bolts and bracket to expose exactly what’s going on underneath.

Good luck,  Peter
