Flavia Vignale 1800 sill drains
« on: 15 November, 2024, 11:00:25 AM »
My car I expect like others has had a lot of welding over the years but I have just noticed that the sills at the rear do not have drainage holes. I’m worried about trapped water rusting from the inside. Does anyone know where the holes should be placed ?
Even better if anyone has a picture of the location on the underside of there own car of these drainage holes.
Your comments and advice would be greatly appreciated

My plan is then with access to treat the inside of the sills with wax.
Thanks

Thanks for the very quick reply but I’m being thick, from the image you sent I don’t understand how you did yours or where it was positioned? There is only one image of the side view of your car am I missing something?

By the looks of it there's a step in the outer sill where it meets the inner sill, creating a slot.
The biggest issue is condensation forming rather than rainwater or whatever getting in so anything to allow airflow will help no end, even if just making sure that the inner sill is vented to the car interior will help.
The trouble with simply drilling holes in the underside of the outer sill is that the rust has a nice fresh bare piece of metal to start eating at! Even if paint is dabbed on.

This may show it better, it's hard to see if you don't quite know what you are looking for.
