My Flavia has spent most of its time in my ownership in the garage of the restorers  Tongue and is still there. It may well be there for yet another winter too.

I've change all the other fluids/lubricants, but never got round to changing the coolant as I had planned to give the car a thorough de-scaling/rad-flush when I got her back from restoration. I'm going to give my Flavia a "hospital" visit and do the coolant change, so... are there any brands of Radiator Flushing solutions that I should avoid using with the aluminium engine?

Similarly, are there any types of coolant that are better to use with this engine?

Nothing specific for aluminium engine, I would not however use the 'pink' coolant as it is designed for more modern engines and is particularly searching on leaks and joints.

Be very careful about using modern antifreeze/coolant they are not designed for older systems.
Stick with ethylene glycol based  either blue or green would be my opinion.
