I'd love to see GP1 like this again without all the technical gadgets and wizardry for the driver, with drivers actually having to change gear themselves manually using a gear lever, and operating a clutch with the left foot.  Grin

...cork helmets, bare arms and proper concrete barriers to hit if they over do it instead of all those pansy gravel traps and run off areas.

Great to watch the arms twirling and car sliding through the corners but not everything was better in the good old days. Thank heavens for historic racing.

I didn't mean to imply that I wanted to go back to the "Good old days" with all the hazards, only to get the drivers working again without all the modern aids, so you have the Man v Man situation, while keeping all the modern safety improvements.

No criticism intended Brian. I agree whole heartedly. I do feel recent changes in F1 go some way to recognising the issue and I am finding it more interesting to watch now. I loved the days of Mansell, Prost and Schumacher in gladiatorial combat. Not ideal but it was exciting.

Following info from FI Fanatic

Juan Manuel Fangio won the non-championship Buenos Aires Grand Prix on this day 60 years ago, driving a Lancia D50. Stirling Moss took second ahead of Jean Behra, both in Maserati 250Fs.
