After a sad, but realistic evaluation of the time I have available and the time I need to finish the car to the standard I would be happy with, I’ve decided to pull the plug on my S1 Fulvia project and thought I would post it here before advertising elsewhere.
I bought the car in 2015 in South Africa as a slightly tatty runner. I drove it quite a bit while there on holiday and shipped it over to the UK in early 2016, initially intending to get it MOT’d and use it over summer. Then I got all ambitious and decided a full nut and bolt restoration was in order.
The car has been stripped and media blasted. It needs some attention to the sills and front floors and there’s evidence of previous repairs in a couple of places, but the body is generally pretty solid. It has aluminium doors and boot lid, but the bonnet is steel.
All parts, both mechanical and trim are present and generally in good order. The seats are very good, but the dash and steering wheel are faded and cracked. The brightwork is all pretty good, as is the glass.
All import duties and taxes have been paid, but the car isn’t UK registered as at the time an MOT was required and I never got that far. With the changes to MOT rules for classics, I think it might now be possible to register it without an MOT.
I also have a load of spare parts, mostly S2, including 2 engines for sale. If you have any questions or want to come and have a look, please get in touch. The car is located in Brackley, near Silverstone.
