I am considering to view this Prisma.

Does anybody here know the car. It had one owner for the last twenty years.

He wants a lot of money for it (relatively speaking) considering it has no mot....

Any tips about the Prisma. It caught my eye as I was looking for something a bit different...

How often does the timing belt need doing on these engines? I assume it will need doing as the car has been stored for years. It had an mot between 2014-15, but apart from that nothing on the online record.

It looks like this one. I off loaded a heap of Prisma spares to him in, I think, 2016 at which time it was standing in his yard.

Have a look further down in the Delta and Prisma section for "newbie Prisma owner". I posted some pictures of rear end rust which may assist you in checking this one out.

I bought my Prisma last summer, similar mileage but a fair bit cheaper with full service and MOT. I love the car and really can't fault it as a daily driver. I had the cambelt etc. done as part of the service along with a few bits of cosmetic work. Since then, I've changed the clutch and replaced the exhaust, some bushes and fuel lines so it has cost me a bit more to get it running perfectly. Next job is to sort out a small area of rot at the back of both sills, hidden by the side skirts. Always something to keep on top of. However, to my mind, well worth the effort and modest price for what is now a rare car.

I would suggest a timing belt needs changing every five or six years, irrespective of mileage, so I would certainly budget for a new belt as a first priority.

If you are open to the idea of a Delta GTie (same engine as the Prisma Symbol), somebody I know is selling theirs. He actually bought my old Prisma Symbol off of me!

It's horses for courses. I wouldn't put anyone off owning a Prisma, they are lovely, but it's more of a relaxed drive than a Delta I would think.

My old Prisma Symbol is back up for sale and is worth considering if you are still looking for one. It's a good car. The current owner is only selling it as he had no interest in his Delta GTie.

From the advert and the photos you posted last year Andy, this does look a great car. Fair price too IMHO. Having enjoyed mine for nearly a year now and got it running really well, I would say the Prisma deserves far greater appreciation than it seems to get. A very practical and comfortable daily driver with more than adequate performance.

I agree. Yet again it is the saloon that is overlooked but actually has that subtle Lancia quality of being both wonderfully civilised as well as enormously competent. Andy's old car looks like a gem. No Lancisti could regret buying it.

Apologies for belated response.
Thank you for all the advice.
I have agreed with Iggy65 to purchase his Prisma.
He has really looked after it and has sorted quite a few niggles plus major jobs.
I will be checking the rear wheel arches etc and hopefully nipping any rust in the bud...but the car is very beautifully preserved overall.

My daughter is learning to drive and neither my Alfa 166 Super or 156 GTA are suitable for insurance reasons...so now we will actually have a Lancia in the family (and the 156 GTA will be sold...it is a Sportwagon so quite rare...just in case anyone on here wants it!!).
