Almost unnoticed in this forum, the 2020 Sliding Pillar Rally finally has taken place. In many respects, it has been a different SPR. Credit goes to Ade and Sarah Rudler who made it possible despite the enormous paperwork involved due to the two times postponement. They have made possible an interesting rally which was much appreciated by the attending regular Lancisti and the fresh faces. Different from other rallies, there were less participants than usual. The location of the hotel required several ferry trips, some with the cars, some as foot passengers. The location of the hotel(s) was again superb, with magnificent views over the sea or Loch Ness. Special was driving on single lane roads, sometimes for an hour or more, very scenic, and away from traffic. The good weather added to the pleasure.
The event was not without drama as one of the regulars had a fall and hurt himself painfully. He spent a night in hospital for checking and joined the crowd the next day, equipped with crutches.
As for the cars, there were some minor technical problems to be solved, easy, as there were technical experts present in abundance.
A nice selections of Lancia models were seen: Lambda, no less than 4 Augusta/Belna, Aprilia, Appia 3, Aurelia B10/12/20, Flavia, Flavia convertible, a Flaminia coupé.
For Ursula and me, it was the most distant SPR so far, in an impressive landscape and among friendly people. The total distance we have driven was 3300 km (2000 m). Karl
