The film “The Bicycle Thieves” has recently been reissued in DVD form. It was made in 1948 by Vittorio De Sica and is widely regarded as a film classic. It’s to do with deprivation, desperation and survival in post-war Italy.  It is filmed mostly in the streets and open spaces of Rome.

Inevitably, blokes like me (and possibly you) look for the cars as well as the human drama. I just happened to see a Lambda saloon in front view and what could have been an Ardea or Aprilia from the rear.

For whatever reason you might want to see it, it’s a great film and I recommend it.
