I am about to start on the long delayed rebuild of my Fulvia, starting with the alloy panels.  Both on the bonnet and boot lid the inside frame has come away from the top, were they welded or stuck together or what?   Any ideas appreciated, I am stripping them down to bare metal and etch priming before getting them re- sprayed.

They're welded. Find a good body shop that is able to work with aluminium and they will be able to fix it up. Inspect around the hinge fixings for fatigue cracks, and also around the top of the doors where the quarterlight guide locates and get any welded up and dressed.

James at Alloy Racing Fabrications near Newark Notts is very good and sorted out my ally doors.  Pro Strip Nottingham removed all the paint and filler first!
