I believe some 1600HF had an exhaust system with only one silencer, has anyone used one on the street and found the noise acceptable?

Hi Sean,my sedan had only a rear silencer as the centre box had been bypassed.the sound was just a little more noticable.I am not sure what is in the centre box or if it act as an expansion chamber.how about one of those side exit  systems?best regards richard

Aprilias for what it is worth only have a single silencer at the back and the sound is more than acceptable in all senses of the meaning! My Aprilia is 1500cc with fulvia pistons and engine is classic narrow angle v4 as Fulvias.

However I did drive Jai Sharma's racing HF (now owned by Ken Rorrison) that only had a small back box and that was a bit loud....

I swapped the back box for a straight piece of tube on my 1600 hf about 3 months ago and do not have any complaints, its a bit louder but not extreme.

Nick, your car sounded absolutely great when I drove in behind you at Brooklands. It matched the looks of the car perfectly !!

Best wishes,

Side exit pipes are common on competition Fulvias:

Also have a spare (road legal but loud) Vere Lancia one if interested.

I run my HF 1.6 with two silencers and only just get under the rally noise limit. Mind you the marshals love hearing the car approaching at night!
