Brake pipe connections

I bought new brake pipe and metric connections for my S3 Fulvia coupe but the threads are different to the existing fittings. Being Girling brakes, are these imperial connections?

They are similar in overall shape and size to the metric ones available in Halfords, etc. but they are not the same thread. I am sorry I do not know the correct spec but I had no difficulty getting them in a specialist fasteners supplier here in Dublin. All the other bolts on the Girling calipers are imperial (inch-based) sizes.

My S3 used a mix of m10x1.5 and m10x1, most places will only supply m10x1 fittings but I think I got my m10x1.5 from a firm called spalding fasteners.

I got some in the end at a backstreet garage where the guy used to make up brake pipes. Cleaned him out, I think!

Elisabeth at Omicron has them in stock. I had the same problem with my fulvia. I made up new copper pipes, went out and bought new unions in the motor factors , and do you know what ! they just diden't fit.
Try Omicron.

A good London stockist for these and lots of other bits is “Think Automotive” at Isleworth. They also do online:

Around halfway down this page is the link for "Metal brake tube and fittings"
http://www.thinkauto.com/acatalog/intro.html
... that leads you to this page where all the stuff is (though without pictures)
