Often it's some of the I-thought-of-this-to-solve-a-problem parts of a restoration or overhaul that are the most satisfying!
Must get round to overhauling my handbrake mechanism one day too. It works okay but occassionally during a longish drive a squeak eminates from the rear of the car whilst driving along. If I pull the handbrake on just slightly that squeak disappears indicating that something isn't quite right back there. But obviously I can't drive with the handbrake even slightly on so it's released ... and then 10 minutes later the squeak re-appears. Annoying!
