It was the rust scandal that helped me buy my first Lancia, nobody would touch them ,the trade panicked and the prices dropped. As an 18yr old with very little money to spend on a car it was like winning top prize in a raffle . I bought a 2yr old Beta sedan for £750.00 the guy couldn't take the money off me quick enough. The car was so full of anti rust wax I think it was called "Crilagard" that the drain holes in the bottom of the doors were blocked , I had to stick a knife in to the holes to clear the wax and let the rain water out. The car never really rusted but it ended it's life stuffed into the side of a trailer , that's another story.
This started me on a life long obsession .
