The D50 engine and rear gearbox also formed part of the chassis structure, pre-dating Colin Chapman. According to the Chris Nixon book 'Rivals' running the prop shaft down the left of the driver meant he could sit 15cm lower than other cars. It was a brilliant design. Also it had been planned to be 4 wheel drive and 90% was designed before they dropped the idea. Such a shame it had to change back to concepts Ferrari's head could cope with, fuel in the back etc.

It looks low.  Is it compressed on that side as it spins but the car looks flat because of camber?

...or have I forgotten how they look?

David

This appears to be the same car as the one featured on page 7 of Viva Lancia, unless all the recreations had the same rollover bar fitted? I would say it is sitting lower than an original, how I don't know as it should be exact. There is a marked difference in ride height between this and photos in the Rivals book, especially the side view on page 78. Can't imagine it was loaded to the gunwales with fuel for the auction catalogue shots.
