I've recently acquired a S2 1600 Zagato and I'm now looking for recommendations as to what tyre size is best suited to its 14x6 Cromadoras. It's currently fitted with 175/70's, but they seem to be around 30mm less diameter than the 165/80 OE tyres (on the original steel rims) and I assume this will have a lower-gearing effect, so just wondering about filling the wheel arches a bit better by stretching the 165/80's onto my 6" wheels, or maybe going 175/80's, which I guess would be my aesthetic preference? I understand 175 is the widest section possible without bodywork fouling. Any thoughts or recommendations? Cheers, Max

I currently have 175/70's on 6J cromodoras on my 1600 sport. I suspect 175/80 would foul but not sure. I have the HF suspension set up. I was advised to fit 185 /70's as they are more or less spot on same rolling radius as the 165's but in my opinion you would lose some steering sensitivity.

The attached sheets give information that may be helpful.

According to the Nada reference book, series 2 HF 1600s had 175/80 tyres as standard on the 14x6 alloy rims, if that helps.

Yes but HF gearbox is different so will need to conform to 165/80 dimensions.....
