Slow but rough

« on: 03 May, 2014, 04:10:36 PM »

hi
anybody changed out a series 1 wheel the white one I have is cracked all over and is an awful colour where I poured some hot water on it to get the horn push out. Will a series 2/3 fit? any tips or advice on restoring the white one.
in anticipation

I had a long chat with Arthur Keeling a few decades ago, he explained how he rebuilt a Lambda wheel with araldite, just building it up, layer by layer and sanding back as necessary. If I recall correctly the finish was black cellulose spray. Needless to say, it, being done by Arthur, was a faultless job!!  I do not know which would be easier, I think James, your fibre glass resin, with a little fine filler as necessary would be the best option. As a matter of interest James, what type of paint was used for the finish?

As ever James, fabulous, certainly the B 12's steering wheel is cracked in several places, I will no doubt be looking for another tip or two nearer the time
