Thanks Peter, I was racing in the FISCAR Team Challenge in the 'Italian Job' team with a 57 Alfa Giulietta and a Disco Volante. Somehow we won the Team Prize for 2nd overall so we 3 all went home with nice crystal trophies to keep. I haven't raced there for a few years and even with the 2 chicanes its a very quick circuit with the added interest of Quarry where it is so easy to get it wrong, go off and end up embarrassed in front of the crowds (as an Aston DB2 did). Our grid contained a wonderful selection of cars and FISCAR is certainly proving to be popular with the 50's (cars that is!!) racers Next out at Donington in HRDC Touring Greats on October 19th which is my last race of the season. Sadly no event for my car at the 73rd Goodwood Members Meeting next March but Jacky and I enjoyed ourselves so much there this year with the camaraderie in the Paddock and the Saturday evening fun that we are going to spectate for both days next year. Chris

I expect that Disco is the one I first saw at one of the Greenwich "park it in the market" events next to chopper bikes and 70s brits and VW buses and all sorts. Saw it again at Brands, the spring Goodwood, on the TV for the Revival. Just recently at Snetterton. He's getting some use from it... At Greenwich last time also an Alfa RL Targa Florio which I expect was also the one featured in one of the monthly glossies. It has lovely carbs that look like half of DCOEs.
I'll try and find some photos.

Of the circuits I drove on in sprints or track days I still rate Quarry as the most technically difficult corner. The way I was taking it I would be coming across the rise at an angle to get the line for the right hander, the car would go light (I've seen the rear wheels lift on a Fulvia) and I'd have to wait for it to settle before turning it straight, brake and change down. Those three have to be compressed into a very short space. As you say, easy to get it all wrong. Very nice shots, wish I was able to watch.

It's this very nice car. Copyright.
it's Chris Mann's delightful car. The Webers were specially made for it. Here are some photos of it at VSCC Pembrey last year. I like the last one best, as it seems like he's beating Phillip Walker's Lotus. Regards, John

The Disco Volante is actually quite a large car IMHO - about the size of a D24. Chris
