Interesting stuff P, especially the HF engine but it's a lot of money . Having built a few engines over the past few years or, to be more accurate, helped experts who were building engines for me, I've learned a thing or two.
Nowadays I'd buy the soundest 'core' I could, and then completely rebuild it inspecting every process along the way, especially the valve work and the piston/bore/ honing work.
Not so long ago I was in a facility where they build race engines and, after asking to see the honing equipment, was proudly shown what amounted to a glorified Glazebuster. Now, I'd hate to pay €8500 for a Fulvia engine and then discover the vendor had done the final bore prep with a Glazebuster...or hadn't done a proper job on the valve seats...or had simply fitted new ring to tired old pistons as an expedient measure.
