I hadn't realised that a couple of LMC members feature during the Zagato interlude.

Wouldn't be doing my press job then! I have yet to see it as was out last night but Peter and Colin should be thanked as filming was not at a very pleasant time of year.

The rivetted sills were a bit of a shocker. That's another reason I'm loathe to change cars - at least I know mine, foibles and all.

Great to see the racous little Competizione out on the road, if only the editor had left a bit more footage of that in the final cut and a bit less of Tim Whatisface farting about pretending to make brake pipes...

Just watched it.........loved it, loved the story, loved the Lancisti he encountered (the competizione was fabulous, Flaminia sport was off the scale!) loved the revealing of the quite lengthy list of bodges (of the owners doing?...it was indeed a death trap!!!!), loved the colour, the final outcome and drive.

Loved less...the pseudo-humourish presenter, the lack of detail/time on film shown of the rebuild, an overview of time spent on doing the restoration and just how much did he pay over for the rebuilt Dutch sourced 1.8 engine?

Dave in Leciester......who supplied some parts and the owner of Flaminia and the owner of the competizione, great to see, what did they think of show and how their involvement was portrayed?

Yes - a freshly rebuilt engine from Vere Lancia would be quite eye watering I should imagine. I loved the colour - the only thing I didn't like were the same coloured wheels. Would that have been as original? I think I would have preferred cream wheels. It was almost as if there was some paint left over................

Tim is starting to ruin it for me a bit these days. Having no idea where he'd sprung from, I Googled him. He doesn't have a very good track record, having been sacked from radio stations for controversy. The best bit was his wife selling his £25,000 Lotus Esprit as a 50p 'Buy It Now' on Ebay after he'd annoyed her.

It seemed the wheels were that colour when they picked the car up but the should be cream I think. Going by the list of bodges Fuzz uncovered I am not surprised that the wheels would have been painted back in the day of initial restauration as easier to do than repair the rusty body....I am surprised that the Flavia consortium could not offer up an appropriate engine as the later 2000 litre does not even fit that car

We should contact Derek (can you get his details from the program producers?) and get him to sign up for LMC and the Flavia 2000 consortium.
The old photo they showed during had Derek with a blue 2000HF Coupe - could he be a serial Flavia man??

I wasn't personally 100% keen on the colour of the Flavia and the wheels most definitely should have been white/cream. Having watched the program again last night it does look like the wheels were previously painted red but basic research would have pointed them in the right direction. Also, the boot was missing the Flavia badge (anal, I know!!).
I was surprised that the producers didn't track down the Flavia Consortium or, for that matter, Omicron.
Great shame that they had to rush things though I suppose that's the nature of the program.

Anyhow, very pleased for Derek - an absolute dream come through. I hope he is enjoying the Flavia.

Are MGB sills a known substitute among Flavia owners or are repro ones available anyway had they researched it?

Justin I will try but the producers were very disfunctional. If you heard Tim about 1/4 way in he was on the phone to Elizabeth (omicron) who said they didnt get much call for engines as most owners had their own.....

Stan, i have just had sills replaced on my vignale and they had to be custom made. The steel is much thicker than standard (i am pleased to note) due to the convertible body structure. Not sure if other Flavias had same gauge of steel but MGB cills would not have cut it!

Hi Tim,  you are right indeed - I was misled by the Zagato Lancia website on his PC when he made the call.  I assume  Omicron didn't have any Flavia engines in stock then!
