Does anyone know the current whereabouts of the March bodied Augusta  ADK 609?
I owned the car in the late 50s, and in fact took and passed my driving test in her!  I know that she spent a number of years in Australia, before before returning here not so long ago.
I believe she underwent major restoration! but then what?

Is that the car once owned by Bunny Tubbs? I photographed it at Silverstone many years ago and haven't (knowingly) seen it since. Who owns it now? Will it ever turn up at a LMC event?

Yes, that's the one, sometimes referred to as the ex-Bunny Tubbs car,not the ex-Don Warren car!!!(I'm puzzled)    I believe she was at the sliding piller do in Belgium in 2005(?). did you miss that?
I would certainly like to see her again, or have news.

It was at the Sliding Pillar in Belgium, but in 2003. Here's a photo with the other March Augustas of Mike Wheeler and Jan Van Hoorick.

Hello Don,
Sorry, I didn't realise it was THAT car! You would hardly recognise it now as it has been transformed into a sort of "Classic Rally Special" with funny little fat road and steering wheels, modern seats and a chromed track rod. I'll bet that makes it go faster! I forget what else was done to it, as doesn't turn up to LMC events very often. Regards, John

I remember driving this car on the way back from my first Torino trip in Old Boot in 1971 (being pre-Freyja, Old Boot was then called f**rting Annie)  The pastilli kept falling out of the head and converting the oil into woil but we all got home OK though I dropped a few exhaust valves and got to be expert at Lambda head shrinking I think this was Bunnie's last trip to Torino with the LMC

It sold at the Goodwood Members' meeting Bonhams sale on Saturday for £44,000 including commission.
I wonder who bought it.

I have been trying to find out which March Augusta was sold at the Brightwell sale. Could it have been BYM 635? I attach a spreadsheet of all I know about the March cars. Can anyone add to it?

Adk 609 has just completed an engine re build. Sadly the cars engine  was found to be far from the excellent condition claimed in the Bonham's auction narrative  in addition various modifications have been or are in the process of being made to restore the car closer to its original march build.
If any member who owns a march has the time for a chat it would certainly aid me in understanding certain aspects of the car.  The march is now part of a small and perhaps rather eclectic collection in Kent. The car is entered for the good wood day in April to stretch her legs.
I hope that adk 609 puts a small distance between herself and the comment on the forum of "that car"!    In passing I would commend the guys at thornley kelham who have done an excellent job and pretty much within budget. Incidentally they have the bright wells car for complete restoration .

Great to hear it's being well looked after. I'm sure Mike Wheeler will be delighted to have a chat. His is the car which was owned by the Earl of March when it was new and Mike has looked after it for many years and has enjoyed driving it many thousands of miles.

I have a lot of historical information and photos of most of these cars and will try to add to the list I've sent with this post, as time permits.

The number produced was always of interest and in correspondence with the late Duke he thought it was about 12.
We have 11 registration numbers and the Brightwells Auction 2014 car which could be one of these.

Paul, you missed out Michael Black, who owned BGH 11 before Jan van Hoorick, who still owns it, I believe. Michael was a nephew of John Maltby and I remember meeting him several times in the 1950s or 1960s. He left the car at a garage in Hamstead for repairs, but never paid for it, so it was sold to cover the repair and storage costs, presumably directly to Jan.  All very interesting!
