I visited Frank McKays home town yesterday to view his lovely Aprilia, its up for sale in the adverts section of the current VL. I offered to put up a few more photos and correct facts in the advert and add some further details to help out in its sale.
Frank has had this car for 25 odd years, done quite a bit of work to it and kept it in fine fettle over this period. Its been used in a total of 9 family and friends weddings during his ownership. The Aprilia actually came to N Ireland in 1958 not 1985 as per VL advert and is accompanied by a page and a half letter from the seller in London, noting what work had been done to it and spent on it over the period he'd owned it. The car also has its original owners manual, however the original buff log book had to be handed in when re-registered in N Ireland in 1993. One of the owners in N Ireland actually had all four wings re-manufactured in aluminium ( allegedly in the works shops of Shorts bros, now Bombardier of Belfast, some time in the late 50s or 60s.) The car starts on the button but could do with a freshening up paint wise. Frank had the leather interior and headlining redone, and has come up with an ingenious method to heat the interior of the car.
Franks phone number and email address are in the VL advert. Apart from meeting Frank on this one and only occasion I've no other connection or interest in the sale of the car.

Cesare, I looked under the bonnet, all looked presentable to me but I didn't take any photos unfortunately, Frank's email is on his VL advert, am sure he would take some pics for you.

Brian 8227 Brian, I didn't get down on my hands and knees to visualize it, but apparently there's a tubular sleeve surrounding a length of the exhaust, which then branch's off to feed two tubes which blow hot air into the rear footwear, governed by two toggle vents/flaps. Oh Justin there is nothing wrong with a Fulvia heater if it functional! Fancy proving that statement sometime Tim? My heater box has been rebuilt and sealed so no air leaks,, I have twice had the heater core rebuilt, new heater valve seal, system flushed numerous times, heater circuit bled numerous times, cables checked to make sure the outers aren't sliding in the clips, all to no avail, To put it bluntly its amazing that with the size of the intake that all that comes out the other end is the equivalent of a small rodent passing wind.. Chris perhaps by the time they got to the Gte they'd sorted out the problems! A lot of changes would have occurred in the normal course of development in the 2 years from Fay and the Gte. Brian 8227. |
