Hi - restoring a HF Turbo - what are the views on original size tyres 165x65x14 - anyone had any good / bad experience with brands of tyre?

I stayed with standard tyres on mine and loved them. Light steering , easy to park and fun at sensible speeds - roundabouts were a hoot!

That is my thinking,

It looks like Pirelli are the original fitment

Probably going to buy a set just wondered if anyone had tried anything else.

Thanks for the reply

Staying with the original size is good, with anything bigger the spare wheel will no longer fit in the wheel well Roll Eyes

I have a set of Turbo Wheels fully refurbished with Toyo Proxes CF2 (nearly new) for sale with wheel centres. I rate the tyres both in wet and dry. They did around 60 miles of track time at Goodwood and had good grip into corners.

PM if you would like to purchase!

Tim

Hi Tim,
I loved those wheels on my HF Turbo, and nothing else I've seen comes anywhere near.

My HF back in the 90's was a hoot on 165/65's, really fun to do 4 wheel drifts!
Later changed to 185/60's and it wasn't half as good even if ultimate grip was probably higher.
Also as has been said, the steering became much heavier.

Thanks for the info guys

Looking forward to getting the car out later in the summer once I have completed afew tasks - no doubt this is not the last the forum has heard from us as we turn our attention to the sorry soul in the corner of the barn, the Lancia has been sitting for over a decade waiting for us to make an effort Smiley

But now we have started I hope to keep the enthusiasm going - lighter evenings - warmer weather on the horizon too, that should help
