Finally got around to giving the car a ride out, brought it home from the rented unit last night, about 25 miles without much issue. Took it to work this morning to do the oil change and spray the underside with the rust inhibitor waxy substance. Hopefully that'll slow things down so I can use it for a year or two without having to do repairs. Now it's had a bit of a longer journey though the drivers front brake has started to bind on a bit. I've ordered a pair of caliper rebuild kits complete with new pistons so I'll tackle that this week. Mrs came for the ride last night bringing it home, she wasn't at all impressed, why do some women not get cars? By the time we'd got home she'd managed to get me thinking about why I need to have 4 cars on the road... like she can manage with one pair of shoes Went and filled up the tank on my own though and all was well again, I'll just have to rotate which cars come home Took it for a ride up to Cadwell Park this afternoon to see some friends who were racing with the classic touring car racers.

The Mrs may not like it but I hope it will grow on you and become an indispensable runabout like mine.

No big drama if she doesn't end up liking the car Frank, if I like it enough I'll keep it, which I do so I will The caliper seal kits arrived this week so I stripped the drivers one down and got it all cleaned out of the rust and crud, used the new seal with the new piston despite the original piston being in good order, you never know until you take it apart if the chrome plating has come off and it was only about £5 more for the pistons so worth having. I'll take it for a ride out this Sunday, might even take it for a ride to skeggy as Rob is there at a classic car show with his Imp.

The Y10 has now gone , temporarily I suspect, to a new owner. My friend Richard now has custody of the car in a deal for a Flavia coupe that we somehow managed to co-own. So I have a '63 car to restore and he has a lovely little car to run around in. I needed to thin at least one car from the list of 4 that I have on the road, Richard expressed an interest in it (why wouldn't he?) so the deal was simple really. Made more logical for me in that if/when Richard wants to sell the car on I get first refusal, something we've done before so no doubt it'll eventually come back to me, in the meantime it'll get a little use rather than locked away in a garage, little beauty deserves to see some use again.

Sounds like a perfect compromise...I need someone to take my Appia and the Y10 do lots of work on them and give them back. I saw the Y10 on Saturday a couple of full days on it would have it down the MOT station. As we are moving back up North I will be hopefully only 20 minutes or so away from it so fingers crossed. That looks like a nice project. Is there likely to be much corrosion underneath?

If you wanted to share it for parts I could use the interior. The rust holes look like quite a lot of work.

It's said to be reasonable underneath so fingers crossed, quite excited at the prospect of getting another Y10, shouldn't really have sold the GTie…. If it turns out to be a basket case Frank I'll be in touch re the interior

I guess after the Delta you can deal with any amount of rust but I would want to have a good dig under the boot carpet to see if the edges of the boot floor, inner wings, outer wings have gone through along with the rust showing on the outer rear wing. Also with sills that rusty I wouldn't be surprised if the edges of the floor pan need replacing. Has it gone through under the windscreen or is that just surface rust?

My workshop manuals have all the body construction details including cross sections of all the seams if you find yourself involved in major reconstruction.
