Hello Flamfan, As a former lorry driver i can inform you that the wheels are known as "split rims". The driver could change a tyre without having to lever the bead of a tyre over the rim, he merely separated the rim by undoing the nuts. Still heavy work but manageable. This type of wheel is still commonplace in Australia due to the arduous journeys undertaken. The nearest ATS could be 500 miles away or more! Love this thread. Long may it continue. Re Reply 45 and the subject of split rims on lorries, our vintage Morgan three wheeler has split rim wheels and they work beautifully except that they increase unsprung weight. Not much Lancia content in this note except the observation that the Morgan also has coil spring and sliding pillar front suspension. The Aprilia always gives it a nod of recognition when they pass.
