Thanks David - yes I had seen it as I have been Googling "Augusta" for the last 6 months and reading everything I could find including Morris Parry's brilliant Newsletter! My run of 60 or so miles didn't show up any issues apart from a tendency for the engine to stall when braking to a standstill down hill. I think this is because the tickover mixture needs adjusting which can be done with an adjusting airbleed screw on the Weber 30DO so next time out I'll try that. Overall it is a brilliant design with not one cm of space wasted and incredibly roomy even for a 6 footer like me, except that there is no room for the clutch foot when not being used. Perhaps six feet are too many  Mike |

I've done a bit of flash with a long exposure and I don't think that entirely explains it. I seem to recall the exposure for flash was traditionally 1/25th of a second but the flash duration is only a few hundred thousandths of a second. The spot lights are the only thing bright enough to register outside of the flash duration but for a static shot they should spread right through the image both behind and in front of the frozen flash image. I suspect this is just a regular flash shot but panning with the camera moving very slightly faster than the Stratos is moving.

That makes sense. It was pretty dark that evening, the only guide was the spotlights on the cars coming through and, on a short stretch of road, there wasn't any time to track the car coming through. Point and hope! Guy |
