Is there anyone who can post a picture of a late series Lambda exhaust cutout?
Many thanks!

Yes, Koen, I have one fitted. I will take pics and send. This is an entirely anorak fitting which can be troublesome, so Iam unreasonably proud of it.

Meanwhile, here are some photos of the one fitted to John Turner's Weymann Saloon.

That looks like 7th, not an 8th, Colin.

The only real purpose is to frighten kids and old ladies on bicycles....
I guess it was the idea that the car would gain power with the cut out open, eg for a hillclimb. But In Fobello 2017 I was in a car with a cut out, and when opened in the town underway this led (in Italy!!!) to big cheers of the crowds (and even the old ladies!) In Belgium an open cut out will be received less enthousiastic I'm afraid, but anyway. It was on originally...

It's a modern replica which I bought in the USA and sold to John.

What I'm aiming to confirm is if the casting I received with my 'project' Lambda is correct, it looks a bit like the picture in the parts book, but straight, as opposed to the one depicted in the parts book

Rolls Royce fitted cutouts to the Ghost, Phantom1 and 2 which seems quite out of character as the noise is very tractorish and not at all sporty sounding. There is a plate on thefloor by the operating pedal saying the cutout must not be used in GB.
I recall in the late 1950's going to a bullfight in Spain where the Matador arrived in a very grotty P1 with the exhaust snorting horribly. I was reminded of this earlier this year when the car which survives was mentioned in the RREC magazine.

I wouldn't bother with it if I were you. You have far more important and fundamental things to get on with. I hope you are making good progress. Regards, John

That is certainly true John! But there will be some parts shipped from Australia soon and the question is whether or not to include a cutout, that is esactly the same as the one I've got the castings for, but then complete so it should be a nice example to finish the castings...and yes I do see this as an option but if the occasion arises...
But some things have been set in motion, parts 'quest' is 99% completed, the engine is with Guido Gotta in Italy, and the front supension frame is being refurbished. I hope to be able to liberate some time the coming year (good intentions!!!) to do some work on the project. Will keep you posted!

'Snorting horribly'. Are you sure he didn't have the bull in there with him?

I didn't notice it!
A friend has a Continental Phantom 2 - the cutout doesn't make any noticeable difference to how it goes, just makes it sound as if the exhaust is about to fall off. Only of interest an original period curiosity.

My first car was a Morris Minor ..... that lost power when there was a hole in the exhaust, a common occurrence back in those dark days!!!
