Hi,the chrome embellishers on the flavia are fixed with 4 countersunk screws into small studs welded to the wheel rim. On our wheels these are all U/S and I am looking for suggestions on an alternative way to secure the trims.Anyone found a satisfactory solution?

You need to drill them out and retap the holes.
You'll need a good drill though as the set screws that hold them on are hardened.

It is possible.... but have a thread repair kit handy (M3 or 4 from memory). You can get SS countersunk domed screw from a model shop or on ebay.

There should be a rubber cap that goes over the top of the studs to but this gets lost....

I made two drill bushes, one large diameter so that one can smooth the top of the broken thread, and the second 3.3mm diameter, which is the tapping drill for M4 thread. You are welcome to borrow these if you wish. You will then need a bit of plastic tube to fit over the threaded boss, slightly longer than the boss so that it will crush when you tighten the 4mm countersunk screw holding the rim embellisher on.

Dave - I love that you made two tools to do that job...and worked out how to improve the design.

Thanks for all the replies. The problem I have is that all the studs were U/S and have been removed from the wheel rims so I'm looking for an alternative.

What about getting hold of another wheel?

I think I have a new set of wheel trims of the correct  size which push into place and are held there by friction clips.
If you think these might help I will have a look when I am back from my travels in 4 weeks or so.

Thanks for the reply Chris, that's probably the best solution as the existing trims are pretty rough.
