63 Flavia Coupe

« on: 09 April, 2019, 10:09:31 AM »

Received an email from a friend whose brother lives in Aus.  Sent a picture of the finalists at the Auto Italia Canberra.  Rather nice Convertable Aurelia, not sure which model no.  Very original apparently.
The Alfa won.  (Expensive rebuild)

Cheers,  Peter

All B24S Convertibles were LHD, but Paul Vellacott had his converted to RHD. Last time I saw it, it was blue, so either he's changed the colour (which I doubt!) or there's another one that's been converted. Can't very well call it a B24S any more.

I received the information below from Steve Katzman, hope it proves useful.

"Would you be kind enough to assist me by pointing out that it's current designation should now be B24XS ? And yes, I  believe it's Paul Vellacott's. There aren't any others."

Here are 2 pictures, both taken at Castlemaine.
One taken in 2013, the red one, one taken in 2017, the blue one.

I am not sure they are the same car, maybe there are now 2 RHD B24S(inistra) convertibile in Australia.
The work in both cases has been done to very high standards - but do you really need such enormous rear view mirrors?

And to my knowledge Paul Vellacott was one of the persons who lobbied the Australian governement to drop the rule for mandatory RHD for vintage cars.
