Filling B10 rear dampers
«

I have rebuilt my rear dampers and have forgotten how to fill with oil. It needs air bleeding out and for the life of me I am missing how! The last time I did this was probably 1986 before the first Coppa delle Alpi and the grey cells with that info have stopped firing.
So advice please.
Also I am not using the mix as advised in the handbook (70% Veedol SAE20 + some thin stuff) - I have used 15-40 in the past. Is this OK?

Brass allen key'd plug on top should be removed, and fill with correct grade oil. I disconnect the drop arm and work the lever up and down to make sure the oil is circulating - keep filling until it's spilling out of the top.

Sorry meant to reply earlier - I did this in the vice off the car and perhaps I was not patient enough but the level just did not drop! In the end I opened the brass cap without the regulator and dropped oil in with the unit at 90degs to final and dropped in oil with a can and waggled the spline until no more bubbles and then put the cap on and filled the top. Now much firmer ride with no more rear bounce so ready for SPR after a few days in Menorca to recover.
BTW - had a nice trip in Sport to Bletchley Park for Consortium AGM and it was nice to see as many saloons as special bodies (although one was a Fulvia!).
