Glue removal
«

I’m just about to replace the boot lid lining on my Flavia Coupe.
Question: Does anyone think they know the best way to remove the old glue ?
Cheers, Peter

Nobody immediately seems to know so some experimentation may be needed in a discrete spot. You could try white spirit, petrol and cellulose thinners in that order. The first two shouldn't affect paint. The third should be tried carefully as too much will probably remove paint that you would rather have left.

Heat and a scraper?
I saw stuff like this in a car hifi / alarm specialist - a business gone ten years back. Businesses like that DO still exist, we still have one locally that seems to do a lot of vans.

This one is new to me, I might give up with the razor blade type glass scraper on some windows I've fitted to the shed:

A couple more that might do it:

Hi, I use this for years... it does not affect your paint in any way

Many thanks everyone. Certainly a good selection of products to use.
One thing I have found out is that you must use a heat resistant glue on the replacement materials. Such as that used for head linings and of course boot linings. Both of which get very hot standing in the sunshine. I think Woolies sell the relevant item.

You are right about the glue. Many years ago I fitted a hard top to a Morgan Plus Eight. I left it parked for a couple of days and came back to find it had seat covers and no roof lining!

Isopropyl alcohol sounds like the best option.
