Confined to quarters we all need a bit of cheering up.

I've been watching lots of youtube of late (am on the mend but have had "it" for a fortnight...) and in particular pedal cars and gravity racers from the kids toy end all the way up to speed record holders.  My favourite is this one which started as just a bit of fun (/ childhood wish fulfilment) but turned into something he takes to work, entertains small children, runs stuff to the tip with etc etc.  It also drifts well on ice.

Wonderful. It doesn't appear to have front suspension but would be crying out for sliding pillars.

The vast majority, if not all, of the commercially available velomobiles use struts.  In terms of where the state of the art is, commercially, its one of these:

I think he said 60Kmh on 160w.  Uk street legal electric assist is 250w.  I forget how fast he's been down hill in one.  He's got a LOT on his channel.  I chose this video as its THE one to have (for speed) and the orange four wheeler is the best of the tourers.  Also as its filmed just up the road from here.  When I first got the Aurelia I took photos for Viva parked on the grass with that church in the background.

The pukka racers that have had a lifetime lavished on them will be half that weight and so lean they only fit the builder.

The 24hr racers cream round at 45kmh to 55kmh and are build a bit heavier, and very few have any paint left by the end.  This particular one has some stats to watch - 750W peak from that rider.  The gradient is interesting as even with the slightest down hill it needs no effort to hold speed.

When I was a kid these (or similar but four seats) were the future of transport, instead its all SUVs.

Nerd sums.  Obvious issue is a steep hill as there's weight, but the recumbent has the benefit of being able to push against the seat back.  Other benefits are comfort both of the seat and protection from weather.

DHL have pedal vans now.  These have electric assist and the sound bite was "one battery does 25km and we can carry six batteries".  Obviously power use "depends...", mostly its hills or stop start in fast moving traffic.  These things WILL keep up with "fast urban" traffic.  Where I am now its supposed to be 20mph, people go a bit more but the days of 50+ are long gone.

125kg pay load.  It means two riders not one driver for the payload, however in some situations one rider beats two drivers for number of drops.  They have them in 80 cities and in some cities its over half the drops.

In the uk near Oxford (F1 valley) there's a company working on something with a cabin. In part the weather but mostly something a bit safer than riding a broom stick out the front of a shed on wheels.
